Section Leader
BEN BEKEL is a Senior from Muscatine, Iowa, and in his fourth year in the Hawkeye Marching
Band. This is his first year as Section Leader. He is majoring in Political Science and Pre-Law. About his
career plans, Ben says, "I plan on becoming a lawyer, so if you need to sue the crap out of anyone six or seven years from
now, I'd be happy to help you out. Might even give you a discount."
Undergraduate Staff
JULIANNA DAPPER is a Senior from Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and in her fourth
year in the Hawkeye Marching Band. This is her second year on the Undergraduate Staff. She is majoring in Anthropology
and hopefully getting certified to teach social studies to 7-12 graders. Julz loves reality tv and enjoys a good poop
joke.
DANA HARTMAN is a Senior from Coralville, IA, and in her fourth year in the Hawkeye Marching
Band. She is majoring in History. Many of the Clarinets like to call her the Clarinet Mom since she is always
overprepared. If you have a problem she can try to fix it, and if you need something, chances are she probably has it!
Fourth Year Members
MEGAN BUBENYAK is a Senior from Clinton, Iowa.
JACLYN SCHWARZ is a Senior from O'Fallon, Illinois.
Third Year Members
TRACY CHAPMAN is a Senior from Williamsburg, Iowa. She is majoring in Music Therapy.
ANDREW GORTZ is a Junior from Libertyville, Illinois. He is majoring in Electrical
Engineering. His main goals are to march hard, party, and study. In addition, Andrew hopes to follow in the footsteps
Andrew Kopf, the last Section Leader and be Section Leader himself someday. Finally, he adds, "And yes, I am single."
NATHAN PETERSON is a Junior from North Liberty, Iowa. He is majoring in Electrical
Engineering.
Second Year Members
LAUREN BLOCK is a Sophomore from Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
SAMANTHA BROOKS is a Sophomore from Ottawa, Illinois. She is majoring in Pre-Physical
Therapy and hopes to someday specialize in pediatrics and work with kids. Marching band has been a wonderful experience
so far and she is excited for the season to start back up again next fall. Samantha has a twin in the section, Lauren
Block. HAHA! Not really, but everyone thinks they are related somehow!
ANGELA BRYANT is a Sophomore from Muscatine, Iowa. She is majoring in Pre-Medicine,
looking specifically into Biology. She wants to be an OB/GYN someday. Angela loves to ride horses, listen to music,
dance, and just be CRAZY!
AMY CROSSE is a Sophomore from Naperville, Illinois. She is a Pre-journalism
and Psycholgy double major. Besides HMB, Amy loves her sorority Alpha Xi Delta, her convertible, big
sunglasses,
chipotle, bean bag toss and catch phrase.
LAURA LOGSDON is a Sophomore from Ames, Iowa.

DEENA DUBIN is a sophomore from Buffalo Grove,
IL. She is studying medicine and psychology.
ANNIE GALUS is a freshmen from Glen Ellyn, IL. She is majoring in elementary education.
HANNAH HERZOG is a freshmen from Bloomington, IL.
She is majoring in business.
ERICA HUTTNER is a freshmen from Iowa City, IA.
ABBIE LEPPERT is a freshmen from Katy, TX. She is majoring in nursing.
COLLETTE SKODA is a freshmen from Marion, IA. She is majoring in chemical engineering.
JENNA SKOPHAMMER is a junior from Fort Dodge, IA. She is studying pharmacy.

int'l studies, and int'l business.
SARABETH VAN WYK is a freshmen from Urbandale, IA.

Become an HMB Clarinet!
You could be our newest member! If you are going to be a student at the University of Iowa in the
fall and are interested in being a member of the HMB and the Clarinet section, then we look forward to seeing you on the field
this August!
Auditions for new members are typically held during the summer months. For any incoming freshman,
these auditions can be set up through the band office to be held during your summer orientation. Call the band office
at (319) 335-1635, or e-mail HMB Director Kevin Kastens at kevin-kastens@uiowa.edu to set up your audition.
